While ShabuBox is actively maintained, it’s a normal paid product. If it is ever truly abandoned, the source automatically becomes open under MPL-2.0 — irrevocably, for everyone, forever.
Active period
While it’s maintained, ShabuBox is a normal commercial product. The source stays private at the developer’s discretion.
Dormancy window
The clock starts only if there’s no maintenance signal for 12 months — no release, no commit, no signed heartbeat — and a good-faith support request goes unanswered for 90 days.
Sunset
After the dormancy window, the source is irrevocably released under MPL-2.0. It’s mechanical — no committee, no petition, no discretion.
Resets are free
Any commit, release, or signed heartbeat resets the clock. An actively developed app never triggers Sunset.

ShabuBox is sold directly from shabubox.com, signed and notarized by us. There’s no store EULA layered on top and no third party mediating a refund — the purchase, the terms, and the Heirloom Guarantee are all one agreement between you and us. The guarantee stands on its own.
Your data is safe regardless
Even setting the license aside: your documents are ordinary files in ordinary folders. Abandonment can never strand your data — you can open, move, and read everything in Finder without ShabuBox at all.
